Join the High Adventure Group for an outing at Camp Na Wa Kwa This group is for CSA Girl Scouts who want to participate in more outdoorsy activities than the majority of their troop. Troops that like the sound of this activity are encouraged to rent a camp unit to set up their own event. Contact sgreene@girlscoutsindiana.org for camp rentals.
General Outline of the Weekend:
Friday night:
The earliest possible arrival time is 4pm. You will be on your own until 7:30pm.
Gather 7:30 p.m. at Program Center, having already eaten dinner.
Have a Fire and songs. Learn about backpacking skills, knots, and how to put together a fishing tackle kit.
Sleep in platforms, yurts, or own tent.
Saturday:
Wake up, make breakfast, head to fishing lake.
Make fishing poles, fish.
Clean fish and cook for lunch.
Afternoon outings--3 options, girls should choose to stay at camp unless they have a ride:
- Feline rescue (if it reopens by then) $10/adult $5/child 12 & under
- Aluminum sculpture trail in Solsbury
- Stay at camp (archery, hiking, activities around camp)
Evening--everyone cooks their dinner in the backpacking clearing or nearest unit. Have campfire, stories, games, Campfire Cooking lesson, etc.
Sunday
Wake up, make breakfast, head out.
Must be out with area cleaned up by noon.
OPTION: Visit Cataract Falls on the way back--$7 per car

Tent if backpacking (or hammock and tarp)

Sharp filet knife to clean fish (can share), pocket knife
Rain gear
