This event is likely to have media present. All girls may be photographed/on video at some point during this event and used for media by Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, local media sources, and/or our community partners.

Girl Scouts from across Indiana will convene at Indiana’s capitol on March 19, 2019 for Girl Scout Day at the Statehouse. More than 100 Girl Scouts from Girl Scouts of Central Indiana, Girl Scouts of Kentuckiana, Girl Scouts of Northern Indiana-Michiana, Girl Scouts of Western Ohio, and Girl Scouts of Southwest Indiana will spend the day meeting with elected women leaders and participating in a joint resolution ceremony in the House and Senate chambers honoring Girl Scouts in Indiana.

Highlights of the day will include remarks from Girl Scout Day sponsor State Representative (District 92) Karlee Macer, Indiana’s Lieutenant Governor Suzanne Crouch, Representative Robin Shackleford, Superintendent Jennifer McCormick, Senator Jean Breaux, and Girl Scouts of Central Indiana’s Chief Executive Officer Danielle Shockey.

Girl Scouts will also get the opportunity to meet with interns and legislative assistants working at Indiana’s Statehouse, a tour of the Indiana State Capitol building, and participate in a get to know your government activity. In addition, Girl Scouts of Central Indiana has secured program partners to include fun and interactive programming throughout the day. Overnight accommodations at the Girl Scouts of Central Indiana camps will be offered to those traveling in.

Ninety percent of Americans believe out-of-school programs like Girl Scouts play an important role in helping girls succeed. Girl Scouts from across the state are reinforcing this belief by encouraging our state leaders to interact with the next generation of leaders at Girl Scout Day at the Statehouse.

Note: Adult supervision will be provided by the council. Parents are not required to stay but will be required to bring their girl(s) in for check-in and to also sign them out at the end of the day.

Attire for the day: Girls should dress their best during this all day event. Business attire preferred with vest/sash. No blue jeans, sleeveless tops, midriff shirts, or tennis shoes. Attire should be business style with comfortable dress shoes for walking.

Registration fee includes lunch, program activities, and a patch.
